It’s all about swatching this time. This podcast focuses on the ins-and-outs of knitting a swatch and measuring for gauge. Follow a great tutorial online provided by a purl bee .

I am on to knitting toe-up socks following the Interweave magazine article in the Summer 2007 issue (by Ann Budd). I am following the children size instructions. I have ordered yarn for the Ribby Cardi from Chic Knits .

Happy Fourth of July week and Happy Knitting!!!!

Hi Miriam, I just found your podcast, and I think I am pretty much caught up on all your episodes. I love your podcast. I was sad to hear that people were giving you negative feed back on the content. I could understand if your volume was an issue or the file format was an issue. I commend you for all the effort and time it must take you to put a podcast together. Keep up the great work (and great content).

Hola Miriam!!! I love your podcast (being a scientist myself!). I’m a polymer engineer and a stay at home mom. I’m always tryng to combine science and virtually everything: my kitchen is my lab and my knitting is my math and geometry homework!!! Keep up the good work. I have an idea for you: talk about stitch definition depending on the yarn, textures, etc. xo rac

Hi Miriam! I just wanted to tell you that this particular episode inspired me to properly swatch for 2 tops over the last weekend - I mean swatches that are actually bound off and will be kept! This is huge for me. I used to only do a swatch for as long as it took to give me a good approximation of gauge, then I’d rip it out and start my project. I hope that from now on, I will always see the gauge as a project unto itself and treat it with respect. I’ll probably be a lot happier with my knitting from now on! Thanks for all the great info!
