Episode 8 - Yarn Collecting
28May07
In this episode, the knitting scientific portion covers a bit of the psychology of yarn collecting adapted from the article written by Professor Bill Brown, “The Collecting Mania” published in October 2001. Also, I talk about knitting a year-long projected UFO - the clapotis, and a trip to a Louisiana yarn store. I review “The Best of Vogue Knitting” and Knit.1 Magazine, Summer 2007 Issue, and more specifially, the Guayabera knitted in Linen, designed by Tony Limuaco.
Visit my blog at “http://knitscience.blogspot.com” for a picture of my projects.
Thanks for listening and, Happy Knitting!

Your science segments are always interesting, and this week’s about collecting really seems appropriate since you are now on your way and have a stash of your own. I also am really happy to see your blog with pictures of your projects. Keep up the good work.
I have gotten caught up on all of the back issues er, I mean shows and I have to tell you that I can hear a strong progression of confidence in each episode. You do an excellent podcast and I really enjoy listening. I heard that pained twinge in your voice when you were talking about some of the snarky comments that thoughtless people left about your choice in music and it made me angry that someone would criticize what is obviously a labor of love. You will NEVER please everyone so pick the music that speaks to you. Those who don’t like it don’t have to listen!
I love to hear from your little son and the blog is cool ’cause now we can see pics of the WIP’s that you discuss on the show. I’d love to see the socks, BTW.
Be well and thanks again for putting out a quality show. I don’t get to knit as much as I’d like to because I have so much writing to do and I have not yet found a way to knit & write at the same time. Since I can’t listen while I knit I listen while I do my early morning walks. Your show makes for great company.
Anyway, I’m a fan. Keep it up and keep on knitting.
