Episode 6 - A Stash Is Born
In this episode I give thanks to the listeners of Knit Science. Thank you All! I talk about the DFW FiberFest 2007, I was mesmerized by knitting needles carried by Stitch Elegance. I bought a kit from the ladies of Knitting Around, a Noni Bobbles Bobbles Everywhere kit – look at the pattern available at Jimmy Beans Wool and Merino wool sock yarn by Jojoland International. The selection from Jojoland is amazing and the 100% cashmere hand knitting yarn was just astounding. Needless to say, my stash was born that day.

As part of the knitting scientific portion of the podcast, I talk about Diophantine equations as they are used in knitting. Here is the link to the shareware tool to use in your knitting. http://bellsouthpwp.net/l/b/lboylan/software.htm.

Have now listened to all you podcasts and I very much like your honesty about knitting. I like that you talk about your dissapointments as well as your aspirations. My only criticism is that I’d love to see pictures of what you have made if you can post them up.
To answer some of your questions I don’t have much of a stash either as I also like to plan each project ahead, although I find my stash growing with titbits of left over yarn. I started knitting seriously late last year and i find it helps me with the stress of my PhD both by being relaxing but also by making me feel I have achieved something I can be proad of.
I don’t really log what I have done and what I plan to do (other than in my head) but I do take pictures of my progress and post them here:

I really like how you talk about the rules you impose on yourself and your obsessions that you let yourself indulge. Isn’t it funny how we make ourselves resticted in some areas of our knitting but not others
Thanks for doing the cast and look forward to hearing you again.
I’m sorry someone is giving you grief. Especially over music. I’m glad you were able to make it to the Fiber Fest. Definitely take classes next year. My mom came down from KS for it this year & we both took a full load of classes. The JoJoland booth was my downfall too. I managed to not buy anything the first year by never looking as I hurried by. This year I kept following my mom over to it. I wound up buying 5 skeins of her laceweight yarn. I was picturing the Irish Diamond Shawl from Folk Shawls.
I really enjoy hearing your podcast.
Hi,
I happen to like your musical choices! Don’t let peoples unconstructive criticism get you down. I appreciate your podcast.
Thank you,

I am loving listening to your podcast - I live local in the DFW area & I hope to run into you sometime. Your content is great & I am learning lots. I’d love to chat about Fiber Fest
I am writing to tell you how much I enjoyed Episode 6 of your podcast. Thank you for the time and effort you devote to this podcast. I believe you mentioned in a prior episode that you are an IP attorney. It is interesting how many knitters I run into who are either attorneys or paralegals. Personally I took up knitting again (after a 25 year or so hiatus) because I felt the need for something slower, calmer, and more soothing than all of the electronic things I handle and deal with all day long in my work.
I thoroughly enjoyed your son’s little story at the end too. Would love to hear more from him. Keep up the good work. I look forward to your next podcast.
I’ve enjoyed your podcasts so far. I was wondering why you don’t say your name? I listened to a dozen or so podcasts, and you are the only one that doesn’t say what your name is.
I just listened for the first time. Great Show! One reason I do listen to podcasts is to find new music and broaden my horizons. Please play what you like!! I am downloading all the other episodes now. The only thing I had problem with was the volume of the podcast. It went really loud and then really quiet a lot. I am sure that will get better with experience. Thank you for podcasting!
I was listening to Episode 6 last night and what a surprise, not only was I mentioned but my comment was read aloud. Wow, I’m a content contributor. Thanks so much for including me in your podcast and keep those episodes coming!
I found your podcast this week and have since listened to all your episodes. Thank you so much for sharing your knitting passion. I want to commend you for putting together your excellent episodes while juggling work and raising a young child. You are very generous to sacrifice your knitting time. Keep knitting and podcasting!
