Episode 6 - A Stash Is Born
In this episode I give thanks to the listeners of Knit Science. Thank you All! I talk about the DFW FiberFest 2007, I was mesmerized by knitting needles carried by Stitch Elegance. I bought a kit from the ladies of Knitting Around, a Noni Bobbles Bobbles Everywhere kit – look at the pattern available at Jimmy Beans Wool and Merino wool sock yarn by Jojoland International. The selection from Jojoland is amazing and the 100% cashmere hand knitting yarn was just astounding. Needless to say, my stash was born that day.

Spring is here and so is the Spring/Summer fashion 2007. This episode focuses on fashion trends and projects to follow some of these trends. Part of this trend is the neutral colors of cream and beige and the ever-graceful dusty pink. Although not mentioned, leopard skin and patent leather is also huge this season. Take a look at these great knitted bags, one by Susan Levine The Almost Designer Hand Bag, the Pretty Purses by Coats and Clark, Cupcake Purse Kit, and the phenomenal Kate’s Fake-a-gamo.
Check out a fellow Texan’s version of the Circumnavigated Cardigan designed by Medrith Glover.

Figuring out the fit of a knitted garment can drive you mad. I have spent many months knitting a sweater only to find in the last stretch that the fit is not quite what I imagined when I started. There is help out there to help you alter the pattern. The Spring/Summer 2007 edition of Knit It! Magazine has a great article by Deborah Newton. Check out the magazine in your closest craft store. Also we discuss in this episode science news. An article on using knitted articles to depict three-dimensional objects is fascinating. Get it at Science News Online.

Keep letting me know how you journal your knitting, if at all. And if you don’t – tell me why not (if you know why).
The next episode will focus on Spring fashion and “reverse engineering.” Stay tuned…
